The Pirmin
The concept for this wallet was forged in the crucible of Chinatown, where every crowded corner presents a challenge and a bulky pocket is a guaranteed target. When my husband, Thomas, was forced to carry his standard billfold in his front pocket, that visible bulge became an unacceptable liability. I knew then that the only path forward was to engineer a solution.
After relentless testing, redesigning and a few spectacular failures—a necessary cost of true design, the "Pirmin" finally emerged. Its initial purpose was pure essentialism: a piece of minimalist kit for a specific mission. The characters of my beta testers—adventurous men of action—were the inspiration for this wallet's design. It was built to reflect the men who tested it, made for a late-night on the town or an adventure into the unforgiving outer reaches of Mongolia, carrying only the vital essentials—enough cash for the next stop and the key ID. It was never intended to supplant the heavy old billfold.
But fate, and the vegetable-tanned leather, had a different plan. It quickly molded to the contours of the men who tested it. It became so comfortable, so discreet, that my Beta-testers began stripping the fat from their lives: the receipts, the loyalty cards, the clutter. Today, the Pirmin is a compact, purposeful wallet: enough room for a few bills and four essential cards. Nothing more. Nothing less.
This is the end of its backstory—and the beginning of yours.
